1. Smokey’s at the Cove
Located on beautiful and quiet Cove Bay, it’s a 15 minute walk away from Cap Juluca to Smokey’s. Once there, you won’t regret the stroll – Smokey’s is known for great entertainment Fridays through Wednesdays, and strong drinks and excellent food every day of the week.
Boasting an extensive seafood menu, guests can sit on the outside deck or in a chair and umbrella right on the beach to enjoy their coconut shrimp, lobster, burger, and much more, while sipping on an expertly crafted drink of their choice.
2. Sammy’s BBQ Bar
As they say, “locals know best” – and with Sammy’s BBQ Bar, this saying definitely rings true. While generally considered a laidback local’s haunt, Sammy’s BBQ is welcoming to tourists as well.
Located conveniently in Sandy Ground, and owned and operated by its namesake Sammy, the bar is known for its wide music variety, strong local patronage, and especially delicious Rum Punch.
3. Palm Grove / Nat’s Place
One of the few beach bars in Anguilla not known for its music, Palm Grove (also fondly called Nat’s Place) allows guests to listen to the soothing Caribbean Sea without interruption.
Because its location in Savannah Bay and Junks Hole is more remote and challenging to get to, Palm Grove is rarely busy but definitely worth the excursion.
4. Gwen’s Reggae Grill
Extremely well-liked by tourists, expats, and locals alike, Gwen’s Reggae Grill is known for its reggae music (quite obviously), in addition to a great live band.
Located on Upper Shoal Bay East, the chilled out bar is popular for dancing, and also for just relaxing in the provided hammocks and people-watching.
5. The Dune Preserve
Perfect for music lovers, the Dune Preserve is owned by reggae music artist Bankie Banx. The bar often features live performances by the owner himself or by his son – but no matter what, reggae rules supreme.
Located on Rendezvous Bay, the bar is a large dune deck made weather proof by a big roof, and features an eclectic reggae vibe. The signature drinks are the Duneshire or the Dune Rum Punch.
6. The Sunshine Shack
Like the Dune Preserve, Sunshine Shack is located in Rendezvous Bay, and run by a popular local.
The Sunshine Shack’s Garvey was a former mixologist at the CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa, and mixes up an amazing assortment of tastefully perfect concoctions, including frozen mojitos, and specialty Island Cream Dream.
The soundtrack is decidedly reggae, and Garvey even gets up to perform once in a while. Surrounded entirely by sand, the Sunshine Shack provides the ultimate beachy feel.
7. Elvis’ Beach Bar
Perhaps the most well-known Anguilla beach bar, Elvis’ is the top spot for celebrity visitors, and located right on the Sandy Ground waterfront. The music played tends to be top hits, and occasionally live music performances are arranged or a DJ spins for guests.
Popular with a mix of both locals and tourists, Elvis’ gets busy on some nights, especially after sunset. A shot of homemade “mamawana” is a must-try while here!
