We Didn’t Plan to Fall in Love Again – Barbados

December 1, 2025 | Category : Travel Stories & Inspiration. | Leave a reply

Booking our trip to Barbados was supposed to be a break, not a breakthrough. We had both been drowning in work and surviving on tired routines and short conversations. The holiday was meant to be a reset button, a breather, something simple. We packed like people who’d done this before, but there was an unspoken tension. I remember sitting at the airport, staring at our boarding passes to Grantley Adams Airport, wondering if sunshine alone could fix what stress had slowly taken from us.

The flight was smooth, the kind where you almost forget you’re in the sky until the cabin lights dim and the world outside the window turns soft and hazy. We shared headphones and watched a film we didn’t finish, not because the movie wasn’t good, but because we finally talked — about nothing important, and somehow that felt like everything.

Barbados felt warm before we even touched the ground. The air smelled sweet, salty, and unfamiliar in the best way. Our hotel wasn’t one of the over-the-top luxury ones, but it was right by the sea in St Lawrence Gap — the kind of place where the staff remember your name by day two and the walls echo distant laughter at night. I still remember the first breakfast — flying fish sandwiches and fresh juice, something neither of us would normally choose at home but somehow tasted exactly right.

We spent days wandering without schedules. We swam until we were tired, walked along Dover Beach collecting shells we didn’t need, and tried street food like we were on a mission. The macaroni pie and pepper shrimp were dangerously good, and we ate coconut cake from a small bakery that looked like someone’s grandmother ran it because she probably did. The best meals were the ones where we didn’t rush.

The random moment that became one of my favorites happened on a local bus. We had no idea where it was going, but we got on anyway because everyone else looked like they were headed somewhere fun. Music blasted, people laughed, and the driver seemed to know every passenger by name. We got off too early, at the wrong stop, and ended up watching a local cricket match while sipping cold drinks from a tiny shop nearby. It was not part of the plan — which is probably why it was perfect.

There was a point, somewhere between swimming with sea turtles and getting sunburnt in places we didn’t know could burn, where something melted. One evening we stood on the beach as the sun dropped behind the water, and I realized we were laughing without effort. Talking without trying. Touching without thinking. Barbados didn’t change us — it reminded us who we were before life got loud.

The flight home was full, noisy, and ordinary. But we held hands the whole way. At home, nothing magically became easier — work is still work, bills still arrive — but something between us stayed soft. We stopped assuming the other one would always understand without being told. We make time now instead of waiting for time to appear.

Barbados didn’t fix everything. It wasn’t a miracle cure. But it gave us space to see each other clearly again. Sometimes love doesn’t need fireworks — it just needs room to breathe.

7 Mistakes to Avoid When Flying to St. Barths. #2 Is Especially Common

November 25, 2025 | Category : Blogs. | Leave a reply

Being a small island, St. Barths cannot be reached by commercial flights. As a result charter flights are your quickest and most convenient way of reaching your destination, when connected with a commercial flight.

Complete flights to your final destination (the SBH airport of St. Barths) should have one single connection, to one of the bigger islands nearby. Avoid these 7 mistakes when flying to St. Barths from either America or Europe to enjoy a pleasant and uneventful trip.

1. Not checking all of your possible flight options

One mistake many travellers make is not thoroughly checking for all of their possible flight and connection options straight from the beginning.

First of all, you should know your best options for connecting islands.

The main ones are St. Maarten (SXM airport on the Dutch side of the island, and SFG airport on the French side), Antigua (ANU airport), and San Juan in Puerto Rico (SJU or SIG airports). Most flights will connect on one of the three. You can find these main connections, plus more secondary options together with the estimated flight times for each, by clicking here.

Secondly, check with all main commercial flight operators to these connecting islands.

The main operators from Europe are Air France, Alitalia and KLM. The main operators from the US are USAir, Delta, Continental, American Airlines, United Airlines and JetBlue. From South America, the main operators are Copa Airlines and Gol Airlines.

All of them operate direct flights to St. Maarten’s Juliana Airport (SXM), from where the rest of the trip will be a breeze as we’ll personally fly you to St. Barths.

Always check for all of your flight options to save considerable time and, potentially, money on your trip.

2. Taking a tight connection to try and save time

In the case of St. Maarten (the most popular connecting island), a minimum of 90 minutes should be allowed for your connection.

This accounts for time spent re-claiming your baggage and checking in on the second flight. To be completely safe and to make sure you won’t have to rush, you should also allow a margin of error for possible flight delays – as these often happen with commercial flights.

If you can’t find a convenient flight from St. Maarten’s SXM airport (the one on the Dutch side), you should also look for better options from the SFG airport (St. Maarten’s French side).

You won’t have to worry about any of this if you choose our personalized VIP services. Our experts will recommend the right connections for you.

One of our aims with this service is to save you valuable holiday time by moulding our flights to your schedule, and not the other way around. We will also take care of the transfer for you, including baggage re-claim and transfer.

This way, when using our VIP services, you’ll be able to save an average of 2 to 3 hours of vacation time simply by making sure you have the right connecting flight (not too late so you’ll waste time in transit, but not too early where there’s a risk of missing it) and by benefitting from swift aircraft transfer.

3. Not repeatedly checking for connection changes

In relation to the previous mistake many travellers make, it is also important to regularly (bi-weekly) re-check for changes to your flight reservations – especially if you’ve booked your tickets way in advance.

Some airlines will occasionally change their flying schedule, and previous bookings will have to change with it. This may result in your updated connection times to become impractical, the time allowed between flights being less than what would be necessary for a smooth transfer to happen.

You will also not have to worry about any of this when you fly with our VIP services, as our operators will notify you of any changes in a timely manner – only after making sure optimal time is left for your swift and uneventful transfer.

4. Not accounting for extra time spent on connecting island

If you’d like to spend some time on St. Maarten (or another connecting island) before traveling to St. Barths, you should leave plenty of time for this.

Some tourists take our advice and book their connecting flight the next day, which leaves enough time for wandering around the bigger island first before they leave. Another option would be to book your commercial return flight a few days later, and spend the last days of your vacation on the connecting island instead.

Whichever option you decide on, make sure you leave plenty of time. A few hours won’t give you enough of a chance to explore another island – thus our recommendation is you leave yourself at least one day.

5. Handling baggage the wrong way

First of all, you should check your baggage’s weight and size before you leave. This is almost never a problem with our charter flights (which can even accommodate big, heavy gear if you notify us in advance); however it often becomes a concern with commercial flights.

This is mostly because their policies continue to change regarding baggage sizes – see here for an example of a very recent policy change among some of the main St. Maarten flight operators from America.

Secondly, make sure you never leave important items in your baggage without tracking them. It is well known that baggage is often lost in transit, in both commercial flights and with some charter operators too. One solution is to take important items with you on-board.

The best thing to do, however, is tracking your luggage. Our VIP service includes baggage tracking if required, as well as a lost baggage recovery service. This effectively minimizes the possibility of losing important items.

6. Not letting your charter operator know all of your needs

You should always let your charter operator know about the particular needs of your flight, including personalized catering if desired (with menu preferences for vegans, for example), potential disabilities of passengers that may need accommodating for, and other personal needs.

With our charter flights, the sky is the limit when it comes to personalization. From specialized catering and requested drinks on-board (if you’d ever like to open a champagne mid-flight it is definitely possible), all the way to accommodating special occasions (such as birthdays), the level of customization of our flights is truly up to you.

By letting us know your needs in advance, our VIP flight service experts will be able to accommodate accordingly – allowing you to start your vacation before you even land on the island!

7. Picking the wrong charter operator

First off, credentials are important – notably their operating certificate, safety record, and/or insurance policy. Secondly, you should review the operator’s customer references as well, to get an idea of their service quality.

You can see these reviews in full, as well as a complete list of testimonials from previous clients, on our official testimonials page. We’re looking forward to adding your own review there soon!

Bonus Tip: Don’t Try to Save Money Where You Shouldn’t

While definitely possible, saving money on your charter flight is, in our honest opinion, not worth it. Why risk additional stress, valuable vacation time lost, potentially lost or badly handled baggage, and a bad start to your vacation – all for a few saved dollars?

Depending on your group’s size and needs, you can get our personalized VIP charter flight service starting from just $65 per person (go and return included). For a quick quote specific to your individual flight and needs, please go to this page and our experts will get back to you promptly.

There are a lot of ways to save during your St. Barths vacation; however it will most certainly not be worth doing so with your flight.

Your flight is the beginning and the end of your vacation; the start of unique lifetime memories, and the sweet taste you’re left with at the end. Don’t risk ruining it by trying to save a few dollars.

Go to this page right now to get a quick, no-obligation quote that is personalized to your individual flight and needs. Treating Myself in Turks and Caicos – And Learning I Didn’t Need a Reason

December 1, 2025 | Category : Travel Stories & Inspiration. | Leave a reply

I chose Turks and Caicos for one reason — I wanted to treat myself without apology. For years I saved, waited and postponed luxury until I “deserved it.” One day I realised no finish line was coming, so I booked the trip. The business-class flight set the tone — quiet, calm, and the first time I allowed myself to enjoy comfort without guilt.

My resort on Grace Bay was the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. The kind of stay where the staff somehow appear when you need them and disappear when you need space. Breakfast by the ocean, fresh seafood dinners, cocktails that tasted like the colour of sunsets — everything was unhurried and graceful.

The random moment came when I joined a cooking class on a whim. I didn’t expect to love it, but laughing with strangers while learning to prepare conch ceviche turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip. Luxury didn’t feel distant or pretentious — it felt warm and human.

The melting moment happened during a private boat charter. Floating in the middle of quiet turquoise water, I realised how long I had been shrinking so others could shine. The ocean didn’t ask me to be smaller. It asked me to be present.

Returning home, the luxury didn’t follow me — but the confidence did. Turks and Caicos didn’t spoil me. It reminded me not to live my whole life waiting.

The Antigua Trip That Gave Us Our Family Back – Not Just a Holiday

December 1, 2025 | Category : Travel Stories & Inspiration. | Leave a reply

Travelling with kids always starts with chaos — snacks, tablets, headphones, plush toys, emergency clothes and emergency emergency clothes. The flight from Miami was short, but parenting hours run differently, so it still felt like a marathon. When the wheels touched down in Antigua, we were already exhausted and half convinced we’d made a mistake.

But the island proved us wrong instantly.

We stayed at a family-friendly hotel near Dickenson Bay. Nothing fancy, just clean rooms and warm staff who somehow remembered every child’s name by day two. The breakfast buffet was a win — pancakes, fruit and pastries instantly earned the place our kids’ loyalty. The beach was shallow and safe, and watching our children run in and out of the water without fear felt like inhaling relief.

Our random moment came on a taxi ride when the driver suggested a detour to a local festival. Music, food vendors and children everywhere — it was loud, colourful and real. Our kids danced with strangers, tried saltfish fritters and giggled nonstop. For once, we weren’t thinking about nap schedules or chores or whether we were doing enough as parents. We were simply in the moment.

The melting moment hit me at Shirley Heights Lookout. The steel-drum band played while the sky turned orange and pink, and my partner and I looked at each other in the soft way we used to — before fatigue took up so much space. The kids were happy, we were happy, and we stood there feeling like a family, not just caregivers managing logistics.

When we got home, nothing became easier, but something became lighter. Antigua reminded us that parenthood isn’t only responsibility — it’s joy too.

How St. Kitts Helped Us Fall Back in Love Without Trying

December 1, 2025 | Category : Travel Stories & Inspiration. | Leave a reply

We picked St. Kitts because it fit the budget, not because we knew much about it. We booked the cheapest flights we could find from London, packed snacks to avoid overpriced airport food, and stayed at a small guesthouse that didn’t pretend to be anything more than what it was. We joked about “travelling smart,” but secretly we worried the whole trip might feel limited.

It didn’t. Not even for a second.

We ate street food on day one — grilled chicken, plantains and johnny cakes from a tiny stand near Basseterre. It cost almost nothing and tasted like someone cooked with love and a whole lot of confidence. Our room didn’t have a sea view, but the beach was a ten-minute walk away, and we swam every morning like kids who didn’t care about anything except getting in the water before it got too hot.

The random moment that stuck with me happened on the local ferry to Nevis. We didn’t plan to go; we simply followed a group of laughing families and ended up spending the day on a beach we didn’t even know the name of. Someone handed us homemade rum punch, and suddenly we were part of the crowd — dancing, talking, joking.

The melting moment came later, watching the sunset from Timothy Hill Lookout. We didn’t have luxury, upgrades or fine dining. But we had each other, and we had joy. We realised we didn’t need perfection to feel alive — we needed presence.

St. Kitts reminded us that a trip doesn’t have to be expensive to be unforgettable.

St. Croix Reminded Us That Life Doesn’t Stop After Retirement – It Begins Again

December 1, 2025 | Category : Travel Stories & Inspiration. | Leave a reply

We had dreamed of visiting the Caribbean for decades but always postponed it because work, family, timing and life kept getting in the way. Retirement finally gave us the chance to stop waiting for permission. The flight from Chicago took longer than we expected, but we didn’t mind — we kept catching each other smiling like we were doing something rebellious.

St. Croix felt gentle from the moment we arrived. We stayed at a quiet beachfront inn on the north side, the kind with rocking chairs on the porch and breakfasts that feel like they were cooked just for you. We took our time exploring — Frederiksted one day, Christiansted the next. We ate roti, fresh fish, and coconut desserts that tasted like holidays feel.

Our random moment came when we got caught in a sudden rain shower at Cane Bay. Instead of running for cover, we stayed in the water and laughed like two teenagers skipping responsibility. The rain was warm, the sea was warm, and suddenly we were young again.

The melting moment arrived during a sunset sail. We held hands like we used to when life was slower. There were no deadlines, no future plans to solve, no worries to negotiate. Just sea breeze, soft music, and a level of peace we didn’t know we had earned.

Coming home, we agreed that St. Croix didn’t just give us a holiday — it reminded us that time isn’t something to spend, it’s something to feel.

Finding Myself in Curaçao – A Journey I Didn’t Know I Needed

December 1, 2025 | Category : Travel Stories & Inspiration. | Leave a reply

I booked Curaçao without telling anyone at first. I had spent months saying I was fine, pushing through days that drained me, pretending my body wasn’t begging for rest. When I finally clicked “confirm booking,” it felt like choosing myself after a very long time of choosing everything else. The flight from New York was quiet enough that I could think, and thinking was both a relief and a risk. I watched clouds in the window and wondered what version of me might return home.

The heat hit me in the most comforting way when I stepped onto the island. I stayed at a small boutique hotel near Pietermaai — colourful buildings, friendly staff, the kind of place where breakfast isn’t fancy but it comes with a genuine smile. My first meal was keshi yena, and I still think about how good it tasted because food somehow feels deeper when you are tired and finally safe.

I spent days wandering Wilmstad’s streets, taking photos of the bright Dutch architecture and swimming at Mambo Beach until my fingers wrinkled. One random moment I didn’t plan: I joined a group of strangers for beach volleyball. I didn’t know anyone, and I wasn’t good, but we laughed hard enough to forget the score, and it felt like belonging without effort.

The moment that melted something inside me came when I snorkelled near Tugboat Beach. Floating above bright fish and a sunken wreck, I realised how loud my life had become and how silent my joy had been. I didn’t cry, but I could have. It was the first time in a long time I wasn’t bracing for the next problem.

Coming home didn’t magically fix things, but Curaçao gave me proof that peace wasn’t a fantasy — it was a choice.

Travelling with Pets by Private Jet Charter

December 1, 2025 | Category : Blogs.

“Pet Friendly Jet Charter: Flying in-cabin and in-style”
Each Caribbean island has varying rules and regulations as to traveling with pets. Caribbean Charter Flights works closely with various agencies to ensure that the process is as simple and transparent as possible in each location. Provided all the documentation is correct and up-to-date, we are able to make all the arrangements, ensuring your animal’s welfare and comfort at all times.

A commercial flight can be a difficult experience for your pet and (unlike on a commercial flight) this trauma can be lessened on a private jet charter.

There are many different reasons for chartering a private aircraft to fly with your pet instead of traveling by commercial airline:

  • Summer/Winter Embargoes: During the summer when temperature exceeds 84° degrees F (29° degrees C) on the runway, many airlines will not accept a pet as checked baggage or as cargo. During the colder months, airlines will not transport your pet if the temperatures fall below 45° degrees F (7° degrees C).
  • Number of Pets Traveling with You: Most airlines limit you to one pet per passenger in the cabin. If you have multiple pets or the pets are traveling unaccompanied, then they will need to travel as checked baggage or as cargo.
  • Breed of Pet: many airlines will not accept snub nose breeds such as Persian cats, Bulldogs, Pugs and Shih-Tzus in the cargo hold as they may develop breathing problems at high altitudes.
  • Size: In today’s world of shrinking airline seats, it is getting more and more difficult to take your pet in the cabin of the aircraft. If your best friend is over 15 pounds (6 kg) or more than 12 inches (30 cm) tall, then it will probably have to fly in the cargo hold (depending on the airline). This section of the cargo is pressurized and temperature controlled, but you might be concerned about putting your pet in the cargo hold of a commercial airline.
  • Immigration Requirements – many countries in the Caribbean will only allow pets to land as manifest cargo and not in the cabin.

Why arrange a private charter when traveling with pets?

  • Your pet always travels in the cabin with you.
  • No size or breed restrictions.
  • No crowded airports or long TSA lines.
  • You choose a schedule that meets your needs.
  • You choose your type of aircraft.
  • You choose your in-flight catering menu for you and your pet.
  • Jets are luxurious and designed to service the needs of you and your pet.
  • Traveling with your pet is permitted all year long – no summer heat embargo.
